On the 6 th . February 2023, Lodrino airport officially became civilian.

After years of hard work by the municipality of Riviera and RASA SA (Riviera Airport SA), the company that will manage the airport, the Federal Office of Civil Aviation (FOCA) released the authorization to LSPR (the new ICAO code) to operate as an aerodrome. In addition to welcoming helicopters, aircrafts and gliders Riviera airport will focus mainly on drone flights:
We all are happy and proud” to have reached this important milestone. It is in fact a fundamental step to allow the companies present on the so-called Aviation Technological Pole to develop further and to promote the Swiss drone base camp (SDBC), the competence center for drones of the Switzerland Innovation Park Ticino, in an even more incisive way developed by the Agire foundation on behalf of the Canton Ticino which aims to provide a platform for the collaboration of researchers, hi-tech companies and start-ups. A development that will allow above all to maintain qualified jobs in a peripheral region, but also to create new ones, generating an important induced activity.

The mayor of Riviera: Alberto Pellanda
