AT the Riviera airport, drones play an important role. Coexistence with other air traffic requires special attention and good coordination. For this reason, a drone flight regulations have been created, which will be implemented and adapted from time to time based on accumulated experience.
Riviera Airport has been designated as a drone technology hub, the development and promotion of which has been entrusted to SDBC Swiss Base Drone Camp.
Three flight zones are available:
• Above the airport, in the airspace also occupied by other aircraft
• A limited corridor along the taxiway
• An area south of Hangar 4.
All flights are subject to authorization. The first flight will be supervised by the aerodrome chief or his deputy. Thereafter, depending on the required airspace and knowledge in aeronautical radio communication, the operator/pilot will be able to operate autonomously in accordance with the regulations in force and the European regulations applied by Switzerland.
